Valentina Shevchenko might be the greatest female flyweight of all time in the UFC. But former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen believes she could become an even bigger superstar if she turned heel.
If you know anything about Chael Sonnen, you know that the UFC legend doesn’t filter his thoughts. The ‘Bad Guy’ is notorious for getting wild with his talking. Ahead of UFC 285, the former title contender went on comedian Andrew Schulz’s podcast to get “Flagrant” about all things mixed martial arts.
Talking about Valentina Shevchenko, the co-headliner of UFC 285, Sonnen had some bold remarks to say. Sonnen is highly critical of The Bullet’s promotional skills and says he doesn’t know who she’s fighting. Criticizing her recent interview, he said, “I saw her on Ariel yesterday, and she’s sitting there going criss-cross apple sauce, and she’s telling some story.”
“Like we’re five-year-olds and she’s the kindergarten teacher. Strip your clothes off! You got tattoos, supposedly speak seven languages,” said Sonnen. The veteran believes Shevchenko needs to offer more to the fans being the co-main event of such a huge PPV card.
Valentina Shevchenko will look to make her 8th consecutive title defense
“The Bullet” is all set to make her next title defense against the dangerous Alexa Grasso at UFC 285. The two will fight in the co-main event of the much-anticipated PPV card this weekend. With a record of 23-3, Shevchenko is looking to continue cementing her legacy as one of the greatest to ever do it.
Shevchenko now has seven consecutive title defenses under her new UFC belt. The new design of the belt gives fighters the option to add rubies to it, every time they defend it. Shevchenko, with seventh rubies already in her UFC belt, is only one title defense away from getting her eighth ruby.

— Liga UFC Chile 🇨🇱 (@LigaUFCChile) March 2, 2023Shevchenko is coming off a very close fight against the dangerous Taila Santos last year at UFC 275. Every opponent presented in front of the flyweight queen, she has managed to get past them. Another real test lies ahead of her in Alexa Grasso this weekend.
